ALLEGRETTO was born in 2015, and it has been our great pleasure to start the company working with Esa-Pekka SALONEN & the PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA to prepare their 2016 STRAVINSKY MYTHS & RITUALS cycle, thanks to the MEYER FOUNDATION.

The project featured choreography and staged productions by Karole Armitage, Irina Brown, Peter Sellars and David Edwards, in London Royal Festival Hall, at Saint John Smith Square and in the Aix-en-Provence 2016 festival.

The series stood out "for its intelligence, concentrated focus, and daring" (the Daily Telegragh)

"Intelligent programming, brilliant performances" (The Guardian - Fiona Maddocks' Best classical music of 2016)

"The Philharmonia’s Stravinsky series, curated by chief conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen, stood out for its freshness and originality.

Some of Stravinsky’s greatest and most neglected masterpieces were included, often in ingenious concert stagings (...) The musical performances under Salonen were always of the highest quality" (The Guardian - Andrew Clements' Top ten of 2016)

We have also enjoyed assisting Esa-Pekka Salonen and Pierre-Laurent Aimard developing the 2017 "Inspirations" series of 4 concerts with the Philharmonia orchestra at the SouthBank Centre, featuring works by Beethoven, Mahler, Strauss, Debussy, Bartok, Boulez, Ligeti and Tansy Davies, and the "western" premiere of "Chant funèbre" by Igor Stravinsky.

"This was a dazzling, invigorating performance that will be hard to forget or better" (The Times, after the Stravinsky/Ligeti/Ravel performance)

"In all it was a marvel. If only every orchestral concert were as imaginatively conceived and beautifully executed as this one." (The Telegraph, after the Boulez/Debussy evening)

Besides, following ALLEGRETTO's survey on the artistic and economic model of the Ensemble Intercontemporain, we have established a partnership between the Meyer Foundation and the Ensemble for three seasons.

The Meyer Foundation has supported the commission and performances in various great european cities, from Philharmonie de Paris / Cité de la musique to the London Southbank Center and Berlin Boulez Saal, of three new works by composers Philippe Schoeller (2017), Bruno Mantovani (2018) and Magnus Lindberg (2019).

Further projects have also been developed since.

In 2022/23, ALLEGRETTO has also advised the association MUSICA PNINA and its artistic director Iddo BAR-SHAÏ on the organization of the series of concerts presented every year in the autumn and spring at the magnificent DOMAINE DE CHANTILLY.

Since 2017, ALLEGRETTO is the Consultant for international affairs of the NATIONAL CENTRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS in Beijing (China) on its wonderful Young Composers Programme.
The programme, initiated by composer Chen Qigang, is offering the unique opportunity to 10 to 12 young Chinese composers to hear one of their orchestral works performed by various orchestras in the country, the 3 laureates winning a further commission from the National Centre for the Performing Arts.

From Spring 2017 to June 2019, ALLEGRETTO has been a consultant for the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva, Music director Jonathan Nott and General manager Magali Rousseau, to prepare its centennial season and to help renewing its approach to programming.

DIGITAL PROJECTS

ALLEGRETTO also enjoys developing new ways of communication about music in collaboration with other partners such as CAMERA LUCIDA, combining new Apps, audiovisual productions & websites.

Occasionally, we also produce our own recordings, digitally distributed by BELIEVE DIGITAL or under license agreement with other labels such as ALPHA CLASSICS / OUTHERE MUSIC.

And last but not least, ALLEGRETTO also publishes music scores, with the support of CNM - Centre National de la Musique.

Chamber music scores are distributed online by BABELSCORES.com and orchestral full scores & parts can be rented directly from ALLEGRETTO.
